First Day of 4th Grade

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Yesterday was my first day of 4th grade. We only had to go to school for 2 1/2 hours yesterday and today was our first full day of school.

There were 24 kids who showed up for school today in my class. I am not real crazy about my current seat assignment–right in between two girls! My Uncle Mark told me that it won’t be long before I will be more than happy to be sitting in between two girls, but I am not so sure about that!

My teacher this year is Mrs. Klasner, she is nice, but has a lot of strict rules for her classroom. My Mom says: “that is good because she’s setting the bar of expectation high”.. I just think that she’s got a lot of rules that I have to remember.

I think that this year of school is going to be really crumby.. so stay tuned for further updates! Mom & Dad don’t agree with me.. they say that if I have a positive attitude the year will be good. We’ll see about that.

Music Camp

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to a music day camp at my Grandparent’s church. The camp was pretty neat and was just in the mornings, so I still got to go swimming at their house in the afternoons, too.

My favorite part about the camp was getting to check out a whole bunch of neat musical instruments. They even let us try them out, too! The first day I got to try my hand at an electric guitar. I think that I made it sound like a cat having surgery without any anesthetic! I also really enjoyed getting to try the trombone, several types of percussion instruments, piano, trumpet, violin. My most favorite was the saxophone & I am considering playing it in the school band someday, too. My least favorite part of the week was having to sing in the choir. I like musical instruments much better than singing!

camp!!!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well, as you can tell by the title I’ve gone off on another adventure. This time for a whole week. In the past I have only been able to go to Camp Ne-O-Tez for Pre-Camp, which is just 2 1/2 days long, because I wasn’t old enough for the week long sessions. This year was different though, I was finally old enough! The session that I went to with my good buddy, Dalton, was the 3rd to 5th Grade All Boys week. We had a blast!

A normal day at camp started at around 7:15am, with the opening flag ceremony and devotional time at 7:30am. After that, we all got lined up in the order that we arrived for flag to walk to breakfast in Pine Lodge. Breakfast varied from day-to-day, but we had pancakes, bacon, french toast, orange juice, cereal, etc. throughout the week. I always went back for at least a second helping of food at every meal!

After breakfast we all went back to our cabins to straighten up our stuff. At 9:30am we went to our Bible classes. We studied the life of Jesus–starting with the story of His birth and concluding with His resurrection. Bible classes were about an hour long. We were given about a 1/2 hour of free time between class and lunch every day in the Pine Lodge. After that we had another 1/2 hour of free time. Then we went to bible class again. After that we had a sports activity and then dinner. After that we had camp fire. Then oops! I forgot we went to the pool after dinner.Well continuing where I left off, after camp fire we all went to bed.

My favorite part was when we hiked to inspiration point witch is a cliff with a great view we stayed up there for about 15 mins. It was fun.

science school is over now

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Well, today was the last day of science school.I’ll miss a few friends, but that’s ok.I’m shure I’ll see them agin. It was fun. I got to see Sam from preschool. We were going to go to Gordon More park, but it started raining ,so we did’nt go.We stayed at Alton middle school insted. Oh,yes I live in alton in case you were wondering. Now I’m free for the rest of summer. Durng the program we laerned how to make paper it’s easy. First , cut newspaper in strips.Next, put the strips a blender (adult supervision) with some water and starch. Then, set it on your porch for a day or two. then enjoy. We also made a biosphere and did an expairement on condencation.

School’s out !(finally!)

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Well, school is finally out and it sure feels good to be free. I am no longer a 3rd grader! I’m not finished yet though because I am going to the Summer Science Program again this year. I just go to classes on Tuesday & Thursday mornings and lunch is provided. This year’s theme is “Go Green” and we have been learning about the 3 R’s… reuse, reduce, recycle.

Today, we got to go on a field trip to the St. Louis Zoo. It was hot and humid outside, but we had a good time anyway. My good friend, Samuel, who went to preschool with me and now goes to a different school than I do, is in my class for the Science Program. We had a great time hanging out together at the zoo today. The program only lasts for a month, but we get to go on cool field trips every Thursday.

The summer reading program starts this Saturday at our libraryHayner Library and I am excited about reading a lot more books and getting my name on the “Wall of Fame” again this year, too. Next month, I get to go to Ne-O-Tez Camp Neotez for a whole week! My friend, Dalton, and I have requested to be in the same cabin again this year. Right after we get back home from camp we will start Vacation Bible School at our church, too.

This summer is going to be a lot of fun!

my week-end

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Well, nothing happened Saturday. So today I tell you about Sunday First, I had a wonderful lunch of beef roast then I went out the back door with Dad and we got the sled out after Mom gave it a good scrubbing.

Then dad and I made a path for the sled on the big hill in the back yard. Then Gideon and I both got on the hill and slid down it. Here’s a video of Gideon sliding down the path:

It feels good to be back !

well I suppose you should know that I’m doing good now. got over the stomach flu saturday morning . I only had one tough run today too. I fell off the top of the the top of the bunk beds today. other than that I had a pretty good day. how was yours?

I’m sick and it stinks

Friday, January 11th, 2008

I am sick with the stomach flu and it is not fun. I have thrown up twelve times over the course of today starting at 4 am.

And boy, oh boy I am going to hate it when everybody is having supper and I am lying over here on the couch eating ice chips.

I have a fever to go along with it and mom won’t stinking check it for me because she says it’s good for me and that the fever is helping me get better.

I am on clear liquid and ice chips till I sweat out the stomach flu. Not that I don’t like Sprite it just gets annoying when you know you going to puke it all up.

I just wish I could get better, but so far the doctor says I probably won’t be well till Monday.

I wish I could get better but there is not any medicine for me to take, so I’m not too sure about getting better all that quick.

I’ll write another post when I get better.

Soaring With the Birds

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Saturday morning was super cool! We got up early, although not as early as we had all planned, and headed out to St. Louis Regional Airport in Bethalto, IL for their annual Fly-In and Car Show. Our main reason for going was for me to finally get to participate in the Young Eagle program that the Experimental Aircraft Association sponsors. A friend of my Dad’s from work is a member of the EAA and had told us that it was going to be this past weekend.

Young Eagles is a program that gives free flights to kids ages 8 to 17. I am now 8 1/2 years old, so we waited in the registration line for about a half hour. Mom filled out the paperwork and had to sign the back of it agreeing that they wouldn’t sue anyone if the plane I got to fly in crashed with me in it.

After registration we went to “pre-flight” which was kind of hard to understand because of the room that we were in and the man who was trying to explain some basic stuff to us, too. Once that was over we made our way outside and I got in the long line to wait for my turn to fly. My Dad said that we waited about an hour or so before I got to go for my flight.

Our pilot’s name was Jack, he was pretty nice. Two other guys went with me in the plane with Jack. They were putting several kids per flight so that they could get through the huge line faster. Our flight lasted about 20 minutes and was a lot of fun. I will have my Dad post some pictures that he took of me getting into the plane and with Pilot Jack, too. I sat in the backseat directly behind the pilot and on our flight we got to fly over Heritage Days at Lewis and Clark Community College, too.

After we were all done at the Fly-In, we all loaded back in the van and headed out to Heritage Days. My Aunt Rupie, is still on the board and we get to help with set-up for the big living history festival every year. We ate lunch out there on Saturday– I had my favorite, a buffalo burger! The kettle-cooked potato chips were great and I love the lemonade they have at one of the booths, too. Aunt Rupie was in the Children’s Area again this year, so Gideon and I had a blast hanging out and doing the games in there. We went back again on Sunday afternoon, too and it was a lot of fun.

By the end of the weekend, we were all exhausted from all the good times and fresh air that we shared together as a family. It would be hard to top this weekend!
