First Day of 4th Grade

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Yesterday was my first day of 4th grade. We only had to go to school for 2 1/2 hours yesterday and today was our first full day of school.

There were 24 kids who showed up for school today in my class. I am not real crazy about my current seat assignment–right in between two girls! My Uncle Mark told me that it won’t be long before I will be more than happy to be sitting in between two girls, but I am not so sure about that!

My teacher this year is Mrs. Klasner, she is nice, but has a lot of strict rules for her classroom. My Mom says: “that is good because she’s setting the bar of expectation high”.. I just think that she’s got a lot of rules that I have to remember.

I think that this year of school is going to be really crumby.. so stay tuned for further updates! Mom & Dad don’t agree with me.. they say that if I have a positive attitude the year will be good. We’ll see about that.

Music Camp

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to a music day camp at my Grandparent’s church. The camp was pretty neat and was just in the mornings, so I still got to go swimming at their house in the afternoons, too.

My favorite part about the camp was getting to check out a whole bunch of neat musical instruments. They even let us try them out, too! The first day I got to try my hand at an electric guitar. I think that I made it sound like a cat having surgery without any anesthetic! I also really enjoyed getting to try the trombone, several types of percussion instruments, piano, trumpet, violin. My most favorite was the saxophone & I am considering playing it in the school band someday, too. My least favorite part of the week was having to sing in the choir. I like musical instruments much better than singing!
