Dissection!

Today at scince school we got to dissect owl pelets. The smell was nousating! But smell or no smell,I love it! I dug up an intackt shrew skull,count-less ribs,an eye socket, hndrunds of fiblua tibluas, and all sorts of other bones.Idont like the un-sanitary part but we wahsed our hands right after . It was fun.

  1. Grandpa Roger Says:

Where did you dig up bones? In your vackyard? Sounds like you had lots of YUCK fun?

  2. Roger Says:

Owls eat small critters whole and then regurgitate the parts they can’t digest– like the bones.

Owl pellets are solidified chunks that have been barfed up by owls. They are sold by science education companies to schools for activities like what Isaiah described in this post.

Both of my kids (Calvin and Katie) had to dissect Owl pellets too! then they took the bones and tried to glue as many of the mouse bones down to a biece of paper, to try and make a complete skeleton! FUN!
